Birmingham to Cape Town

We are starting to think about our biggest car challenge yet, 10,000 miles from Birmingham to Cape Town. The record is 10 days, 3 hours and 16 minutes completed in a LandRover Discovery.

We have a number of planning tasks to do in the next few months:

– Choose a vehicle to take

– Find a route (that is safe or safeish)

– Choose a charity to raise for

– Organise visa’s

Potential Routes

There are a number of routes that maybe possible, the problem is the changing security environment in lots of countries along the way. A country that maybe relatively safe now while we are planning maybe in a full blown war by the time we set off, so I guess the key word here is likely to be flexibility.

England, France, Italy, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa.

Western Africa Route (18 Countries)

England, France, Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, Namibia, South Africa.
